It's My Birfday! It's My Birfday! (on the 20th)

I LOVE roller coasters but can never find anyone to go with. I got this great idea from my friend Laura who had taken her daughter to Primm to ride The Desperado for her birthday. When I found out her sister Patty likes coasters too, I asked her to go with and we decided to make a weekend out of it and play tourist!

We started at the New York New York, riding the Manhattan Express (CRAP!). Patty made us get in the front car, which was insane and totally cool at the same time (did I say CRAP?) Once we readjusted our necks we made our way down the strip to the "Welcome To Las Vegas" sign, snapped a few pics and hit the highway for Primm...woohoo!

Whiskey Pete's was our luxury destination. Upon our arrival at the front desk we were immediately hit on by two 26-yr-old guys that thought they were so hot, Anthony and Alan (viva California!), and later their new friend Cesar whom they introduced me as "Nevada" to (go figure). Funny that we had noticed them while walking in because they were getting talked to by security (snort). Needless to say, as soon as we got our key we darted out of sight ASAP! Whiskey Pete's is a lovely hotel in a white trash, trailer park sort of way and we were continually entertained by the different sorts wandering around the casino and clammering to get on the monorail because they might miss something!

Okay, so getting to our reason for traveling to Primm...THE DESPERADO coaster at Buffalo Bills! WOOHOO! Again, Patty made us sit in the front seat...ACK! This drop was waaaaay incredible...255 ft. almost straight down. I lost my scream about half-way through the ride and shook like Katherine Hepburn for about 45 minutes after! It was crazy cool! Good thing we rode it before dinner.
It was a great Oprah and Gayle-type traveling mini-holiday filled with laziness, video poker, a few tequila shots, hokey entertainment, slow service and bad food (except for Tony Roma's), great shopping, and fun with my friend, all with NO kids or husbands!

Now I have to think of something else to celebrate and a new destination so we can do it all over AGAIN!
P.S. Jesus won $70,000

Oprah and Gayle, you guys are so fun when you go slummin'! And, yahoo, Jesus did win! That is the funniest sign I have ever seen - that wasn't on a church!

Heh heh...it was totally hilarious
and a once-in-a-lifetime sighting! The 2nd screen on the marquee read $70,000 so, apparently, Jesus is powerful AND rich.
